Can somebody please tell me why tooshbrushes cost so much damn money?!

Seriously, for the price of four toothbrushes I can get a portable CD player. I'm not talking about high-end motorized toothbrushes. I'm talking Colgate toothbrushes. $4.79 plus tax. Really gets one thinking about relative worth of goods...
