Too much emphasis on Jessica Lynch
Category: War/Terrorism

I'll be the first to admit that I watched neither "Saving Private Ryan" nor "Saving Private Lynch."

With that said, I do know that "Private Ryan" WASN'T the story. If million dollar book deals were being passed out, Private Ryan wasn't the one getting one. At some point, someone is going to have to explain why being knocked unconscious in a caravan and being rescued by an elite squad gets her "Hero" status.

People need to understand that events like this create an air of distrust. I would hate to be a woman in the army who earned her commission. Jessica Lynch just put an asterisk next to your rank and accomplishments. It’s like saying “Being captured is the best example of proud serving women that we can find.”

Pieces of People Prevent Peace
Category: War/Terrorism

I'm not Jewish, but I did grow up in Boca Raton, Fl. I have probably been to more Bar Mitzvahs than Christenings. As such, I fully admit that I am not the most unbiased person when it comes to the Middle East.

However, some things just get to me. When suicide bombers strike purely because their soon to be-inducted leader looks like he might actually favor peace, it is hard for me not to scream, "BOMB away Israel!"

I know that much of it isn't as easy as it appears. However, bombings in protest of peace are just that easy. They're wrong.

The anti-anti-Americans

Things just don't change. When I was a kid, I always wanted to get to "first base" with a girl. Now, parts of Europe are thinking the same of the U.S -- "If I could only get to first base with them." (airbase that is ;) )

Finally a French foe

Finally -- an army the French *might* be able to beat.

I have this nightmare.
Category: War/Terrorism

I have this nightmare. We bother to liberate the Iraqi people. We rebuild their country. We ensure their success. They join the UN, and in 50 years they join the French and the Germans to stop us from liberating yet another country. Can someone please tell me why we bother?

U.S. lowers terror threat level - Feb. 27, 2003

I can breathe easier now. The alert has been lowered to yellow. Boy, I didn't like being at orange. The only question that remains is "Where can I offload 4.7 miles of duct tape?"

Can't we save the poor chickens and instead strap the French to the hoods!
